The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alerts for widespread heavy rainfall across multiple states in August 2025, leading to flooding, landslides, and travel disruptions in urban and rural areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has put out orange alerts for heavy rainfall in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Odisha, parts of the Northeast, and Peninsular India. These alerts are in place until the end of August 2025, so be ready for possible flooding, water buildup, and travel problems.
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are still getting hit hard by monsoon rains, causing landslides and road closures. Cities like Mumbai and Delhi have already seen flooded streets, resulting in traffic jams and flight delays. Many airlines are telling people to keep an eye on their flight times before heading to the airport.
The IMD is saying that heavy rains will stick around in Gujarat through the end of August, and we'll see scattered heavy showers in northeastern areas like Assam and Meghalaya. Coastal Karnataka and parts of Andhra Pradesh will also get rain, with strong winds along the Arabian Sea coast.
Officials are warning about possible low visibility, rapid flooding in urban areas, crop damage, and minor damage to roads and buildings. People should pay attention to official warnings and try not to travel unless they have to in areas with heavy rain.
