Odisha Governor inaugurated a 485 kWp rooftop solar power plant at Lok Bhavan, enhancing renewable energy capacity and supporting sustainable government infrastructure.

Odisha Strengthens Renewable Energy Push with 485 kWp Solar Project

Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, flagged off a 485 kWp rooftop solar power plant in the Lok Bhavan complex in Bhubaneshwar, yet another milestone in harnessing renewable sources of energy in government institutions. Before the completion of new solar project, the cumulative solar power capacity in the Lok Bhavan premises has increased to 635 kW.

This rooftop solar initiative has been set up in several buildings of Lok Bhavan and it will assist in reducing reliance on non-renewable sources and decreasing carbon footprint. This endeavour fits well with the national objective of generating energy through renewables.

In the process of inauguration, the governor underlined that there was a need for shifting to renewable energy considering the growing demand for energy, challenges in energy worldwide, and the high cost of fuels. Solar energy has the capacity to contribute to energy security and sustainable environment.

It was mentioned by officials that battery storage technology and renewable power are becoming increasingly relevant in India as it increases its renewable power capacities. The project may assist in improving energy efficiency as well as in realising the potential of rooftop solar systems at government buildings.

The installation forms part of wider efforts to encourage the adoption of renewable energy technologies across the country. Odisha has been actively promoting solar energy through various initiatives aimed at expanding clean power generation and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

As India continues to scale up its renewable energy ambitions, projects such as the Lok Bhavan rooftop solar plant are expected to support the transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
